The left and right horn cores of Tragelaphus strepciseros, which is similar to the extant greater kudu, found today in dry woodland in eastern and southern Africa. Three species are recognised in the Koobi Fora Formation, Tragelaphus nakuae, Tragelaphus strepsiceros and the very rare Tragelaphus gaudryi.

The tribe Tragelaphini are a group of medium to large antelopes that include the modern living Kudu, Eland, Nyala, Sitatunga, Bongo and Bushbuck. These are browsing antelope where in most species the males only have distinctive lyrate horns although in the Eland and Bongo both sexes have horns. The Genus Tragelaphus strepciseros is known from the KBS, the Upper Burgi and the Chari member of the Koobi Fora Formation.
