This mandible belonged to a now extinct species of Sabre-toothed cats, Homotherium machairodontinae. Unfortunatly the distinct sabre is missing from this jaw but the beautiful and sharp carnassial is present.

Homotherium had a wide range and existed in north and south America, Europe, Asia and Africa going extinct only 10,000 years or so ago.
