This is a broad snouted crocodile that was formerly placed in the Genus Crocodylus but was moved to a newly formed Genus Rimasuchus in 2003. Rimasuchus was a large crocodile that commonly exceeded 7 mts in length. Its teeth are very robust and quite blunt unlike those of other crocodiles. It was common in much of east Africa in the Pilo-Pliestocene living in both lakes and rivers and alongside several other crocodile species- Euthecodon brumptiCrocodylus niloticus and Crocodylus cataphractus.
